Manuscript Types
1. Introduction
The International Journal of Education and Learning Studies (IJELS) publishes original scholarly contributions addressing theoretical, empirical, methodological, and practical developments in education and learning studies.
IJELS welcomes manuscripts that demonstrate scientific rigor, originality, academic relevance, and meaningful contributions to educational knowledge and practice.
The journal accepts two principal manuscript categories: Original Research Articles and Review Articles.
2. Original Research Articles
Original Research Articles present previously unpublished empirical findings derived from systematically conducted research. Manuscripts must demonstrate clear objectives, rigorous methodology, valid and transparent findings, critical discussion, and significant contributions to education and learning studies.
Research approaches may include:
- Quantitative research, including experimental, quasi-experimental, correlational, and survey studies.
- Qualitative research, including case studies, phenomenology, ethnography, and grounded theory.
- Mixed-methods research integrating quantitative and qualitative evidence.
- Educational design research and research-based instructional development.
- Action research and other systematic investigations of educational practice.
- Comparative, longitudinal, and evaluation studies in education.
Original Research Articles should present an appropriate scholarly structure consisting of an introduction, literature review where relevant, methods, results and discussion, conclusion, and references.
Recommended length: Maximum 8,000 words, including tables, figures, and references.
3. Review Articles
Review Articles provide a rigorous and critical synthesis of existing scholarly literature, identify research gaps, assess the current state of knowledge, and develop implications for educational research, theory, policy, or practice.
Accepted review approaches may include:
- Systematic Literature Review: A transparent and reproducible synthesis using explicit eligibility criteria and systematic procedures.
- Scoping Review: A systematic mapping of concepts, research coverage, and knowledge gaps within a field.
- Bibliometric Review: Quantitative analysis of scientific publications, citation patterns, and research developments.
- Integrative Review: Integration of theoretical and empirical literature to develop broader understanding.
- Critical or Theoretical Review: Analytical evaluation of theories, concepts, and scholarly debates.
Review manuscripts must clearly describe the review objectives, information sources, literature selection or analytical procedures, synthesis approach, principal findings, and scholarly contributions.
Manuscript length: No fixed maximum word count; submissions must remain concise, coherent, and appropriate to the scope of the review.
4. Subject Areas
