Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement (COPE)

PUBLICATION ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE STATEMENT
Jurnal Inovasi dan Riset Pendidikan Dasar

1. Ethical Publishing Principles

Jurnal Inovasi dan Riset Pendidikan Dasar (JIRPD), published by PT. Intelektiva Global Nusantara, is committed to ethical, transparent, independent, and responsible scholarly publishing in elementary education.

This statement is informed by the core practices and relevant guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and internationally recognized principles of transparency in scholarly publishing.

Ethical Commitment

JIRPD promotes originality, academic honesty, methodological rigor, editorial independence, responsible research involving children, appropriate authorship, and the protection of scholarly records.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

  • Evaluate manuscripts on scholarly merit, relevance to elementary education, originality, methodological quality, and ethical compliance.
  • Maintain independent, fair, confidential, and nondiscriminatory editorial processes.
  • Assign qualified and impartial reviewers under the journal's double-blind peer-review model.
  • Manage editorial conflicts of interest and protect confidential manuscript information.
  • Assess allegations of misconduct and arrange appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensure that editorial decisions remain independent of financial or institutional pressure.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Provide objective, evidence-based, constructive, and timely manuscript assessments.
  • Assess research methodology, educational significance, findings, interpretation, and ethical compliance.
  • Maintain confidentiality and avoid unauthorized sharing or use of unpublished material.
  • Disclose relevant competing interests and decline assignments when impartiality cannot be maintained.
  • Report suspected plagiarism, fabrication, duplicate publication, or research ethics violations.
  • Refrain from inappropriate citation requests or unauthorized processing of confidential manuscripts using external AI services.

4. Responsibilities of Authors

  • Submit original research or scholarly reviews that are not simultaneously submitted elsewhere.
  • Report educational research methods, instruments, data, findings, and limitations accurately.
  • Provide reliable citations and obtain necessary permissions for copyrighted materials.
  • Ensure appropriate authorship, author approval, and accurate contribution declarations.
  • Disclose financial support, conflicts of interest, data availability, and substantive AI use where applicable.
  • Obtain appropriate ethics approval, informed consent, and child protection safeguards when required.
  • Preserve relevant research records and cooperate with legitimate editorial inquiries.
  • Promptly report significant errors discovered before or after publication.

5. Responsibilities of the Publisher

PT. Intelektiva Global Nusantara supports journal administration, publication infrastructure, digital dissemination, preservation arrangements, and responsible editorial practices.

The publisher respects editorial independence and supports appropriate procedures for complaints, investigations, corrections, and retractions.

6. Plagiarism and Originality

JIRPD prohibits plagiarism, unattributed reuse, duplicate submissions, redundant publication, and other forms of scholarly misrepresentation.

Manuscripts undergo similarity screening. The journal normally applies an internal overall similarity threshold of 20%; however, editorial assessment considers the source, concentration, and nature of overlap. Similarity percentages alone are not conclusive evidence of plagiarism.

7. Fabrication, Falsification, and Research Integrity

Fabrication or falsification of student assessment results, classroom observations, research instruments, statistical analyses, participant records, or other research materials is prohibited.

Selective reporting, misleading image manipulation, unsupported claims, peer-review manipulation, and inappropriate citation practices are also unacceptable.

8. Authorship and Contributorship

Authorship must reflect genuine scholarly contributions. Honorary, gift, ghost, and coercive authorship are prohibited.

All listed authors must approve the manuscript and its submission. Authorship changes require documented justification and appropriate agreement from affected authors, subject to editorial assessment.

9. Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers, editors, and other relevant publishing personnel must disclose relationships that could influence their professional judgment.

Relevant conflicts are managed through disclosure, independent handling, recusal, or additional editorial assessment when necessary.

10. Ethical Oversight and Child Protection

Research involving elementary school students, teachers, parents, or other human participants must comply with applicable institutional and legal ethics requirements.

Where required, authors must document ethics approval or exemption, informed consent, parental or legal guardian consent for minors, and age-appropriate assent.

Children's privacy, identities, educational records, and welfare must be protected. Consent to participate in research does not automatically constitute consent for public disclosure of identifiable photographs or personal information.

11. Data Transparency and Reproducibility

Authors should describe instruments, sampling procedures, interventions, analytical techniques, and research limitations with sufficient clarity to permit scholarly evaluation.

Relevant supporting data should be made available where ethically and legally permissible. Sensitive student information and other confidential records must not be disclosed without appropriate safeguards.

12. Artificial Intelligence and AI-Assisted Tools

Generative AI tools cannot qualify as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy and integrity of their research and manuscripts.

Substantive AI use must be disclosed in accordance with the journal's requirements. Authors must verify AI-assisted outputs and ensure that confidential student data are not submitted to external AI services without appropriate authorization and safeguards.

13. Handling Allegations of Misconduct

JIRPD evaluates credible concerns raised before or after publication through a fair, confidential, and evidence-based process:

  1. Registering the report and reviewing available evidence.
  2. Identifying and managing editorial conflicts of interest.
  3. Requesting clarification, records, or supporting documentation from relevant parties.
  4. Consulting appropriate experts or research institutions when necessary.
  5. Reaching an editorial determination based on available evidence.
  6. Documenting findings and applying proportionate editorial action.

Anonymous or whistleblower reports may be considered when they provide specific, verifiable information. The journal may refer allegations requiring a formal misconduct investigation to an appropriate institution.

14. Complaints and Appeals

Authors, reviewers, and readers may submit documented complaints concerning editorial procedures, peer review, ethical matters, or published content through the official journal contact channel.

Appeals are assessed by an appropriately qualified, unconflicted editor. An appeal does not automatically reverse the original decision.

15. Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions

JIRPD is committed to preserving the reliability of published scholarly work. The journal may issue:

  • Corrections for material errors that do not invalidate principal findings.
  • Expressions of concern when serious unresolved concerns warrant informing readers.
  • Retractions when articles are unreliable or serious publication integrity problems justify withdrawing their standing as reliable scholarly evidence.

Public notices should be clearly identified and linked to the affected article. Readers may raise evidence-based post-publication concerns through the editorial office.

16. Confidentiality and Data Protection

Editorial correspondence, manuscript files, reviewer identities, unpublished research, and personal information are treated confidentially and processed for legitimate editorial, publication, or integrity-related purposes.

17. Ethical Guidance

Publication Integrity Commitment

JIRPD is committed to scholarly integrity, independent peer review, responsible educational research, and appropriate protection of children and other research participants throughout the publication process.
