Authorship Criteria

AUTHORSHIP CRITERIA

1. Introduction

Jurnal Inovasi dan Riset Pendidikan Dasar (JIRPD) is committed to ensuring that authorship accurately reflects substantial intellectual contributions to scholarly research in elementary education. Authorship must be based on genuine participation, ethical responsibility, and accountability for the published work.

This policy follows the general principles of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) recommendations and uses the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to promote transparency in authorship contributions.

2. Criteria for Authorship

Individuals listed as authors must meet all four criteria:

  1. Make substantial contributions to the conception or design of the research, or to data collection, analysis, or interpretation.
  2. Participate in writing the manuscript or critically revising important intellectual content.
  3. Approve the final version intended for publication.
  4. Accept accountability for the integrity and accuracy of the work and cooperate in addressing relevant concerns.

All individuals meeting these criteria should be included as authors. Individuals who do not satisfy all four criteria may be acknowledged as contributors, where appropriate.

3. Author Contributions (CRediT Taxonomy)

JIRPD requires authors to provide accurate contribution statements using the CRediT taxonomy. The recognized contribution roles are:

  • Conceptualization
  • Methodology
  • Software
  • Validation
  • Formal analysis
  • Investigation
  • Resources
  • Data curation
  • Writing – original draft
  • Writing – review & editing
  • Visualization
  • Supervision
  • Project administration
  • Funding acquisition

Each author must identify their actual contributions. More than one author may share a role, and an author may perform multiple roles. The assignment of CRediT roles does not replace the requirement to meet the four authorship criteria.

4. Author Order and Affiliations

  • Author order must be determined through agreement among all authors before submission.
  • Every listed author must make qualifying intellectual contributions to the manuscript.
  • Author names must be provided accurately and without academic titles in the article byline.
  • Institutional affiliations must reflect the authors' relevant academic or professional institutions.
  • Authors are encouraged to provide valid ORCID identifiers.
  • Teachers, school practitioners, and research collaborators should receive authorship recognition when they meet the established criteria.

5. Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author is responsible for coordinating communication with the journal and ensuring compliance with submission requirements.

  • Submit the manuscript and all required documents.
  • Verify that all authors meet the authorship criteria.
  • Obtain approval from all listed authors before submission.
  • Ensure that author names, affiliations, and metadata are accurate.
  • Provide required author contributions and ethical declarations.
  • Coordinate revision and responses to reviewer comments.
  • Communicate editorial decisions to all co-authors.
  • Approve the final proof in coordination with all authors.
  • Respond to relevant post-publication inquiries.

6. Non-Author Contributors and Acknowledgments

Individuals contributing through administrative assistance, routine data collection, financial support, general supervision, technical services, or language editing do not automatically qualify for authorship unless they also satisfy all authorship criteria.

Such contributions may be recognized in the Acknowledgments section of the Title Page with the individuals' permission. School personnel, participating institutions, and other collaborators should be acknowledged appropriately without compromising participant confidentiality.

7. Changes in Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or change the order of authors after submission must be accompanied by a written explanation and documented approval from all listed and affected authors.

Changes requested after manuscript acceptance or publication require editorial assessment and may be handled under the journal's correction and publication ethics policies. Unresolved disputes should be referred to the appropriate institutions.

8. Unacceptable Authorship Practices

  • Gift or Honorary Authorship: Listing individuals who do not meet the authorship criteria.
  • Ghost Authorship: Excluding individuals who qualify for authorship.
  • Coercive Authorship: Including individuals due to inappropriate institutional or professional pressure.
  • Misrepresentation: Providing false author contributions, identities, or affiliations.

Allegations of improper authorship may be examined under the journal's publication ethics and research misconduct policies.

9. Artificial Intelligence and Authorship

Artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot accept responsibility for research integrity. Authors must review and verify AI-assisted content and disclose substantive use of generative AI in accordance with the journal's policy.

10. Authorship Documentation and Submission

JIRPD requires three separate submission documents:

  • Title Page: Includes author names, affiliations, ORCID identifiers, corresponding author details, CRediT contributions, and relevant declarations.
  • Anonymous Manuscript: Contains the complete research article without author-identifying information for double-blind peer review.
  • Cover Letter: Confirms originality, author approval, manuscript contribution, and exclusive submission.

Complete author details must be provided through the Title Page and journal submission metadata, not in the Anonymous Manuscript.

11. Author Accountability and Disputes

All authors are responsible for the integrity of the submitted and published work. Authorship disagreements should initially be addressed among the contributors and, when necessary, through the relevant institutions. The journal may request supporting documentation and take editorial action in accordance with its publication ethics policies.

Important Notice

All authors must agree on authorship, author order, individual contributions, and final manuscript approval before submission. Inaccurate authorship declarations or unresolved authorship concerns may result in editorial action.
