ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE POLICY

Jurnal Inovasi dan Riset Pendidikan Dasar (JIRPD), published by PT. Intelektiva Global Nusantara, supports responsible and transparent use of artificial intelligence (AI) in scholarly research and manuscript preparation. AI-assisted technologies may support academic work but must not replace human intellectual contributions, ethical responsibility, or independent scholarly judgment.

1. Permitted Use of AI

Authors may use AI-assisted tools for the following purposes, provided that human oversight and verification are maintained:

  • Grammar, spelling, academic language refinement, and translation.
  • Improving manuscript clarity, organization, and readability.
  • Supporting reference formatting and bibliographic consistency.
  • Assisting with literature exploration or methodological planning without replacing the authors' scholarly judgment.
  • Supporting educational data processing, coding, or analysis when methodologically justified, documented, and verified.

All AI-assisted material must be checked against reliable academic sources, original research records, and appropriate methodological standards.

2. Prohibited and Unacceptable Uses
  • Listing an AI system as an author or co-author.
  • Submitting AI-generated manuscripts without substantial intellectual involvement and verification by human authors.
  • Fabricating student responses, test scores, classroom observations, interviews, or research findings.
  • Generating fictitious citations, references, ethical approval numbers, or consent records.
  • Producing unsupported conclusions or manipulating data and statistical results.
  • Presenting AI-generated photographs, participant responses, or classroom records as authentic evidence.
  • Using AI to disguise plagiarism or other publication misconduct.
  • Sharing identifiable student information, confidential educational records, or other sensitive data with unauthorized AI platforms.
3. Authorship and Accountability

Only individuals who satisfy the journal's authorship requirements may be listed as authors. AI systems cannot assume authorship because they cannot take responsibility for scholarly integrity, approve the final manuscript, or respond to ethical concerns.

Authors retain full responsibility for their research design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, conclusions, citations, and all AI-assisted materials.

4. Disclosure of AI Use

Substantive use of generative AI must be disclosed in a dedicated Declaration of AI Use section. The declaration should specify the AI tool, provider, version where available, purpose, and the authors' verification procedures.

Routine spelling, grammar, and punctuation checks that do not materially change the manuscript do not require disclosure. Substantive drafting, rewriting, analysis, or visual generation must be declared.

AI used as part of educational research methodology, including research interventions, analytical coding, or assessment procedures, must also be described in the Methods section with sufficient detail for evaluation and reproducibility.

Example of AI Disclosure

During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used [AI tool and version] to assist with [specific purpose]. All generated outputs were critically reviewed and verified against the original research evidence. The authors remain fully responsible for the manuscript's content and integrity.

5. Research Ethics, Child Protection, and Data Privacy

Research involving elementary school students, teachers, parents, or educational institutions must comply with applicable ethical approval, informed consent, data protection, and confidentiality requirements.

Identifiable student records, photographs, school documents, assessment results, and interview materials must not be uploaded to external AI platforms without lawful authorization, appropriate consent where required, and adequate security safeguards.

Authors must ensure that AI-generated or AI-modified materials are not misrepresented as genuine classroom observations, participant responses, or empirical findings.

6. Use of AI by Editors and Reviewers

Editors and reviewers must preserve the confidentiality of unpublished manuscripts, reviewer reports, student information, and editorial communications.

Confidential materials must not be uploaded to external AI services without explicit authorization and appropriate safeguards. Reviewer recommendations and editorial decisions must be made through independent human evaluation.

7. Editorial Assessment and Policy Violations

The Editorial Board may request clarification, supporting research records, relevant data documentation, or further explanation of AI use if credible concerns arise.

AI-detection scores must not serve as the sole evidence for determining misconduct. Editorial judgments must be evidence-based, proportionate, and consistent with the journal's publication ethics procedures.

Serious violations may result in manuscript correction, rejection, withdrawal of acceptance, an expression of concern, or retraction where justified.

8. Ethical References and Policy Review

JIRPD considers the ethical guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This policy may be reviewed periodically to address technological developments and emerging publication ethics concerns.

Core Principle

The use of artificial intelligence must not compromise the authenticity of educational research, the protection of children and research participants, or the accountability of human authors.
