COPYRIGHT AND LICENSING POLICY

COPYRIGHT AND LICENSING POLICY

1. Copyright Ownership

Authors publishing in the Indonesian Journal of Community Service in Education (IJCSE) retain copyright and full publishing rights to their scholarly articles without transferring copyright or granting exclusive publishing rights to the journal or publisher.

By publishing in IJCSE, authors grant the journal, published by PT. Intelektiva Global Nusantara, the non-exclusive right of first publication and permission to publish, reproduce, archive, preserve, distribute, and disseminate the article as the official Version of Record under the applicable open-access license.

Authors must ensure that their manuscripts and supporting documentation respect the copyright and intellectual property rights of community partners, participants, educational institutions, and other third parties.

2. Creative Commons License

Creative Commons Attribution–ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0)

All scholarly articles published in IJCSE are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution–ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0), except where specific third-party material is clearly identified as excluded from the license.

This license permits users to copy, redistribute, adapt, translate, transform, and build upon published material for any lawful purpose, including commercial use, provided the license terms are followed.

3. Rights of Readers and Other Users

Under CC BY-SA 4.0, users may:

  • Read, download, copy, print, and share published community service articles.
  • Redistribute scholarly content in any medium or format.
  • Translate, adapt, remix, transform, and build upon licensed material.
  • Use the content for teaching, community development, research, professional activities, or commercial purposes.
  • Incorporate licensed materials into repositories, educational resources, training materials, and scholarly platforms.
  • Reuse licensed content without seeking additional permission when the intended reuse is permitted by CC BY-SA 4.0.

These permissions do not automatically extend to separately identified third-party content or override applicable privacy and other legal rights.

4. License Conditions

Users must observe the following licensing conditions:

Attribution (BY)

Appropriate credit must be given to the original author(s) and source of publication. Users must provide a link to the license and indicate any changes. Attribution must not suggest that the authors or IJCSE endorse the subsequent use.

ShareAlike (SA)

When distributing an adapted work, the adapted contributions must be licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0 or a license allowed by its ShareAlike compatibility provisions.

Indication of Changes

Users must identify modifications, translations, or adaptations where applicable.

No Additional Restrictions

Users may not impose additional legal conditions or technological restrictions that prevent others from exercising the rights permitted by the license.

5. Author Rights

Authors retain the right to:

  • Share and redistribute their published community service articles.
  • Deposit submitted, accepted, or published versions in institutional or subject repositories.
  • Publish article copies on personal, institutional, or academic websites.
  • Reuse their scholarly content in community service reports, educational materials, presentations, theses, dissertations, and future research.
  • Develop additional scholarly works based on their original contributions.
  • Enter into additional non-exclusive distribution arrangements while acknowledging the initial publication in IJCSE and respecting existing license grants.

IJCSE does not require authors to transfer copyright or grant exclusive commercial publishing rights to the journal or publisher.

6. Repository and Self-Archiving Policy

IJCSE permits authors to deposit and disseminate the submitted version, accepted manuscript, and published Version of Record through institutional repositories, subject repositories, personal websites, and other scholarly platforms.

No embargo period is imposed by IJCSE on author self-archiving.

Authors are encouraged to include complete bibliographic information and a link to the official published article, preferably through its DOI when available.

Earlier manuscript versions should be identified appropriately to distinguish them from the final published Version of Record.

7. Third-Party Material and Community Documentation

Authors must respect the intellectual property rights of third parties when submitting educational materials, photographs, instructional resources, figures, training modules, assessment instruments, or documentation generated during community service activities.

Appropriate permission must be obtained when required for the reproduction or publication of third-party copyrighted content. Material excluded from the article's CC BY-SA 4.0 license must be clearly identified through a credit line, copyright notice, or other appropriate statement.

Publication of identifiable photographs or personal information involving students, teachers, community members, or other participants must comply with applicable informed consent and privacy requirements.

Copyright permission and participant consent are distinct requirements. Permission to publish a photograph does not necessarily authorize every subsequent reuse of an identifiable person's image.

8. Immediate Open Access

IJCSE provides immediate free access to published scholarly articles without subscription fees, reader registration requirements, or embargo periods.

Open access supports the dissemination of community service knowledge, educational innovation, and evidence-based community engagement practices. Licensed article content may be lawfully reused under CC BY-SA 4.0.

9. Copyright and License Information in Published Articles

The copyright holder and applicable open-access license should be identified clearly on published articles and made accessible through the journal website.

Copyright and licensing notices should be displayed consistently on article landing pages, full-text PDFs, and other publication formats where supported.

Copyright in scholarly articles is separate from any copyright in the journal website, journal identity, publisher logo, or other publisher-owned materials.

10. License Continuity and Publication Rights

Once an article has been published under CC BY-SA 4.0, permissions granted under that license remain valid for users who comply with its terms. Authors retain copyright and may exercise their publishing rights while respecting existing license grants.

Corrections, expressions of concern, retractions, and other post-publication updates are managed under the journal's publication ethics policies and do not automatically revoke valid Creative Commons permissions.

Open Access and Copyright Commitment

IJCSE supports responsible open-access publication of educational community service scholarship. Authors retain copyright and full publishing rights, while readers may access and reuse published scholarly content under the Creative Commons Attribution–ShareAlike 4.0 International License, subject to applicable license terms and third-party rights.
