Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

IMPACT: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Multidisipliner is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency, accountability, fairness, and ethical conduct in scholarly publishing.

This statement applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, editorial board members, and the publisher. The journal follows internationally recognized principles of publication ethics and best practices in scholarly publishing.

General Ethical Standards

All manuscripts must be prepared and submitted honestly, accurately, responsibly, and without fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, inappropriate authorship, undisclosed conflicts of interest, duplicate submission, redundant publication, or manipulation of the editorial and peer-review process.

Editorial decisions are based on the scholarly quality, originality, relevance, methodological soundness, ethical compliance, and contribution of the manuscript, without discrimination based on nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, political belief, institutional affiliation, disability, or personal background.

Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

Fair Editorial Decisions

Editors evaluate manuscripts objectively and make decisions based exclusively on academic merit, relevance to the journal’s scope, originality, methodological quality, ethical compliance, and reviewers’ recommendations.

Confidentiality

Editors must protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not disclose information about a submission to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, prospective reviewers, authorized editorial staff, and the publisher when necessary.

Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions must remain independent from commercial, financial, institutional, political, or personal influence. The publisher does not interfere with individual editorial decisions.

Conflicts of Interest

Editors must disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest. An editor must not handle a manuscript involving close collaborators, institutional colleagues, family members, personal relationships, competitors, or circumstances that may compromise impartiality.

Response to Ethical Concerns

Editors must take reasonable action when ethical concerns are raised regarding a submitted or published article. Allegations will be examined fairly, confidentially, and without prejudging the outcome.

Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers support editors in evaluating the scholarly quality of manuscripts and assist authors in improving their work. Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide objective, constructive, respectful, evidence-based, and timely evaluations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts, review reports, and editorial correspondence.
  • Decline a review when they lack the required expertise or cannot complete the review within the requested period.
  • Disclose any financial, institutional, professional, academic, competitive, collaborative, or personal conflict of interest.
  • Identify relevant published work that has not been appropriately cited.
  • Notify the editor of suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, unethical conduct, or substantial similarity with another work.
  • Refrain from using unpublished information, ideas, data, or materials obtained through peer review for personal or professional advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

Originality and Accuracy

Authors must present an accurate, original, complete, and verifiable account of their community service activities, methods, participants, findings, evaluation results, limitations, and impacts.

Original Submission

Manuscripts must not have been previously published and must not be under consideration by another journal at the same time. Submission of substantially similar manuscripts to more than one journal constitutes unethical publishing behavior.

Proper Citation and Attribution

Authors must appropriately cite all ideas, data, figures, methods, instruments, quotations, publications, and other materials obtained from external sources.

Data Integrity

Authors must not fabricate, falsify, manipulate, omit, or misrepresent data, documentation, participant responses, program outcomes, photographs, tables, figures, or other evidence.

Authorship

Authorship must be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, implementation, analysis, interpretation, drafting, or critical revision of the manuscript and who accept responsibility for the final published work.

Conflicts of Interest and Funding

Authors must disclose all financial support, institutional support, sponsorship, professional relationships, personal interests, and other circumstances that could influence or reasonably be perceived to influence the work.

Correction of Errors

Authors must promptly notify the editor when they discover a significant error or inaccuracy in a submitted or published manuscript and must cooperate in issuing a correction, withdrawal, expression of concern, or retraction when necessary.

Ethics Involving Participants and Communities

Community service activities involving individuals, students, children, vulnerable groups, communities, personal information, interviews, surveys, photographs, recordings, health-related interventions, or sensitive data must respect dignity, privacy, confidentiality, autonomy, cultural values, and applicable ethical and legal requirements.

Authors must obtain informed consent, institutional permission, community approval, or ethics committee approval when required. Identifiable photographs, quotations, case information, recordings, and personal data must not be published without appropriate authorization.

Plagiarism and Text Recycling

The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, including direct copying, inappropriate paraphrasing, unauthorized translation, idea plagiarism, image plagiarism, data plagiarism, or the reuse of previously published material without proper acknowledgment.

All submissions may be screened using similarity-detection software. A similarity report is used as an editorial screening tool and is evaluated contextually. Editorial decisions are not based solely on a numerical similarity percentage.

Forms of Publication Malpractice

Publication malpractice includes, but is not limited to:

Plagiarism

Using another person’s words, ideas, data, images, or work without proper attribution.

Fabrication

Inventing data, activities, participants, documentation, results, citations, or evidence.

Falsification

Manipulating methods, materials, images, data, or results so that the work is inaccurately represented.

Duplicate Publication

Publishing or submitting substantially the same work to more than one journal.

Authorship Misconduct

Gift authorship, ghost authorship, guest authorship, omission of contributors, or unauthorized authorship changes.

Review Manipulation

Providing false reviewer identities, manipulating reviewer nominations, or interfering with the integrity of peer review.

Procedures for Handling Alleged Misconduct

1. Receipt of Allegation

Ethical concerns may be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief with relevant evidence and a clear explanation of the alleged misconduct.

2. Preliminary Assessment

The editorial team evaluates whether the allegation is credible, specific, supported by evidence, and within the journal’s responsibility.

3. Author Response

The corresponding author and, when appropriate, all co-authors are informed of the concern and given a reasonable opportunity to provide an explanation and supporting documentation.

4. Investigation

The journal may consult reviewers, editorial board members, independent experts, the author’s institution, research ethics committee, funding body, or other relevant authority while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.

5. Editorial Action

Depending on the evidence and seriousness of the issue, the journal may request clarification or revision, reject the manuscript, withdraw the manuscript, publish a correction, issue an expression of concern, retract the article, notify relevant institutions, or impose restrictions on future submissions.

Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions

Correction

A correction may be published when an error affects part of an article but does not invalidate the overall findings, reliability, or integrity of the work.

Expression of Concern

An expression of concern may be issued when credible concerns exist but the available evidence is inconclusive, an investigation is incomplete, or an institutional decision is delayed.

Retraction

An article may be retracted when its findings are unreliable because of major error or misconduct, when it contains plagiarism, unethical material, unauthorized data, duplicate publication, fabricated information, manipulated peer review, or other serious violations.

Retraction and correction notices will be clearly identified, openly accessible, linked to the original article, and will state the reason for the editorial action. Retracted articles will remain accessible as part of the scholarly record but will be clearly marked as retracted.

Complaints and Appeals

Authors, reviewers, readers, and other parties may submit a complaint regarding editorial procedures, publication ethics, reviewer conduct, conflicts of interest, or published content. Complaints must include sufficient information and supporting evidence.

Authors may appeal an editorial decision by submitting a reasoned explanation addressing the scientific or procedural basis of the decision. Appeals are not considered solely because an author disagrees with reviewers’ recommendations. When appropriate, the appeal will be evaluated by an editor who was not directly involved in the original decision.

Responsibilities of the Publisher

PT. Intelektiva Global Nusantara supports the editorial independence of the journal and is responsible for maintaining the journal platform, preserving published content, supporting ethical editorial procedures, protecting publication records, and ensuring that commercial interests do not compromise editorial decisions.

The publisher will cooperate with editors, authors, reviewers, institutions, and relevant authorities in addressing ethical concerns and correcting the scholarly record when necessary.

Artificial Intelligence and Automated Tools

The use of artificial intelligence tools must comply with the journal’s Artificial Intelligence Policy. AI tools cannot be listed as authors, cannot assume responsibility for published content, and must not be used to fabricate data, references, interpretations, participants, results, images, or conclusions. Authors remain fully accountable for all submitted content.

Commitment to Publication Integrity

IMPACT: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Multidisipliner is committed to safeguarding the accuracy, credibility, transparency, accessibility, and integrity of the scholarly record. All ethical concerns will be handled seriously, fairly, confidentially, and consistently with internationally recognized publication ethics and due-process principles.
